Introduce different types of jumps in FS, with video demonstration and key points for distinguishing between them.
Table
| Jump | Chinese Name | Take-off Type | Take-off Edge | Skating Leg | Take-off Direction |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Toeloop (T) | 后外点冰 | Toe-pick jump | Outside edge | Right | Backward |
| Salchow (S) | 后内结环 | Edge jump | Inside edge | Left | Backward |
| Loop (Lo) | 后外结环 | Edge jump | Outside edge | Right | Backward |
| Flip (F) | 后内点冰 | Toe-pick jump | Inside edge | Left | Backward |
| Lutz (Lz) | 勾手 | Toe-pick jump | Outside edge | Left | Backward |
| Axel (A) | 阿克塞尔 | Edge jump | Outside edge | Left | Forward |
Notes
Salchow: Before taking off, the legs should have the shape /\, and some traditional standard will not let the right leg touch the ice.
Loop: Before taking off, the legs should have the shape X.
Also note that if we consider T, S, Lo, F, we could find that the take-off edge is always the right one (in perspective of the athletes).
That is, we always use inside edge for left leg and outside edge for right leg, as the image shows below:

Connections
- All jumps will land using right leg and outside edge. That means we could continue to have a Toeloop jump after previous landing.
- Salchow & Flip could go after Euler, since Euler will cause a left leg inside edge take off.
